Why social media?

We here at Sociomechanica get a lot of questions about our obsession. And although there are a lot of people saying a lot of things about social media out there on the internet, we set ourselves out to be different for a few different reasons.

Some of the things you WON’T see us talk about:

  • How social media can advance your business
  • How social media can get you dates
  • How to make thousands of dollars working from home in just two weeks through social media
  • How to win a new laptop computer completing these sponsored offers in social media

We are more interested in the effects on society, both locally and globally. All of a sudden, we have all sorts of ways for anyone to communicate with people from all over the world. Not just text chats or phone calls, but sharing pictures, locations, books — you name it.

Our main areas of interest where social media is concerned:

  • Sociological
  • Philosophical
  • Anthropological
  • Metaphysical

We want to counter arguments by naysayers about why social media is dangerous. OR, if it is dangerous, we want to figure out why, and how to change it.

After all, a revolution is upon us. Why would we want to go back? Even if we wanted to, could we?
